Contest and Awards Gala

We've assembled a world-class line-up of panelists and speakers, including emcee, academy award nominee Adriana Barraza. We also have a great list of exciting & informative workshops - everything from International Funding to Alternative Media to the new, High-Definition Technologies. Companies such as Sony, Venevision, Dynamo and Picturehouse, will be participating to answer your questions, so register now!

The prizes will be trophies, and access to executives during our Pitching Sessions. In 2007 our winner of the short film competition Kenneth O'brein directed a feature film entitled "Duelos de Pasarelas" and our Branding Director "Gaston Virkel" directed and wrote "De Rodillas."

MISSION

The Florida Media Market (FMM) is a non-profit* membership-based organization whose goal is to build a platform where independent film & media makers meet with international buyers, distributors and production companies to buy, sell and network. We've created an annual market for film, documentary, television and media deal-making that will fortify our industry both in Florida and internationally. FMM's Fourth Global Media Market will take place in Miami, FL October 22-25, 2009 at the Alexander Hotel in Miami Beach.

Our Contest!

The Market at FMM will organize competitions for the following genres: feature films, short films, screenplays, documentary & television programming, both national and international projects. Awards will be presented at our gala dinner. The feature film, the short film, documentary and TV show competitions will be pre-screened.

Submissions

Feature Films

Feature films (finished projects): We are accepting all genres - comedy, drama, action, experimental, narrative fiction, films for television. No pornographic material.

Short Films

Short Films for new media distribution

Documentary

Documentary all genres

TV Programming

Screenplays

The submissions of scripts must be copyrighted and first draft between 90 to 120 pages.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

Competitions:

The MARKET at FMM will organize competitions for the following genres: feature films, short films, documentary & television programming, both national and international projects. Awards will be presented at our closing luncheon. The film, documentary and TV show competitions will be pre-screened.

Pitching Sessions

The MARKET at FMM will host Pitching sessions on projects for the following four genres: film, documentary and television programs for both national and international projects. The selected finalists will have the opportunity to make their pitches on Friday from 5-7pm on October 23th,- 1-minute pitches for chosen projects.

Panels

FMM will conduct panels with industry veterans, on a wide range of topics such as distribution, packaging, how to market your film, production, post-production, how to make deals, etc.

Screenings

Pre-selected projects will be screened at the hotel throughout the day on Friday and Saturday, October 23rd and 24th.
